Dr. Donna Wicker joined University of Detroit Mercy Eye Institute in August 2024. She has 37 years of experience at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center, where she provided primary vision care, specialty contact lenses and low vision evaluations. She also participated in research involving risk of falls for visually impaired patients, employment with vision impairment, scleral and gas permeable contact lenses.

Dr. Wicker taught low vision and contact lens fitting to ophthalmology residents as well as medical students. She also supervised optometry students at vision mission trips. Dr. Wicker is excited to help develop University of Detroit Mercy Eye Institute's Low Vision clinic. She is motivated to help visually impaired patients live their lives to the fullest possible by using optical devices, technology and educational adaptive techniques.
She is active in the Lions Club and will continue local projects as well as international vision missions involving new and donated glasses and ocular health care.
Areas of Expertise: Ocular Disease & Primary Care
Dr. Hady Srour was born and raised in Dearborn, Mich. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2017 and received his Doctor of Optometry at the Indiana University School of Optometry in 2022.

Following his optometry education, Dr. Srour completed residency in ocular disease at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit in 2023. This residency provided him with extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a broad spectrum of ocular conditions, from common refractive errors to complex systemic ocular diseases. In 2023, Dr. Srour also achieved the distinction of becoming a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO).
Over the course of his career, he has worked in a variety of settings, including private practice and corporate environments, refining his ability to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in diverse clinical contexts.
Dr. Srour is an active member of both the Michigan Optometric Association (MOA) and the American Optometric Association (AOA), staying engaged with the latest advancements in optometry and contributing to the ongoing development of the profession.
With a strong commitment to both patient care and professional growth, Dr. Srour strives to help his patients achieve optimal vision and eye health, while continuously expanding his expertise in the ever-evolving field of optometry.
When he's not in the clinic, you can find him cheering on the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Pistons and Red Wings, traveling the world or enjoying outdoor activities in the beautiful state of Michigan.
Areas of Expertise: Cornea and Specialty Contact Lens
Dr. Chawan Rasheed serves as adjunct faculty at University of Detroit Mercy Eye Institute. She is a native Memphian and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree from Christian Brothers University. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree in at Southern College of Optometry (SCO) with cum laude honors again. She completed a one-year postgraduate residency in Cornea and Specialty Contact Lens/Refractive Surgery at SCO and Eye Specialty Group between 2020-21.
Dr. Chawan Rasheed serves as adjunct faculty at University of Detroit Mercy Eye Institute. Her excitement for academia encouraged Dr. Rasheed to remain at SCO after residency to join faculty supervising student clinicians in the adult primary care, cornea and contact lens and nursing home/assisted living departments. Dr. Rasheed has been a part of multiple national and international mission trips, both as a student and as an attending doctor, to Mexico, Ecuador and Belize. She has also presented multiple continued education courses on the topics of anterior segment and specialty contact lenses.
She moved to Michigan in January 2024 after getting married and soon joined University of Detroit Mercy Eye Institute. Aside from the joy she feels when fitting a variety of corneal pathologies with specialty lenses, she is also passionate about educating her patients on overall health and its impacts on ocular health.
Dr. Rasheed is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians. Outside of optometry, she enjoys outdoor walks and hikes, visiting gardens, caring for her various plants and trying new restaurants!
